*UPDATE* Melissa has maintained its 175mph maximum sustained wind speed on 11pm advisory, although pressure has now dipped to 903mb on the most recent Hurricane Hunter pass through the eye at 10:34pm EDT. Melissa has also begun its fateful turn to the north-northeast, which was expected bad news for Jamaica. With the pressure falling, I would not be surprised if we saw winds increase a touch more overnight. At 903mb, Melissa is now the 9th most intense hurricane in the Atlantic Basin since 1851.
