In 1229, a monk named Johannes Myronas needed parchment for a prayer book. He took an ancient manuscript containing Archimedes' mathematical works, scraped off the text, and wrote prayers over it. This common medieval recycling practice created what we now call the Archimedes Palimpsest. Hidden beneath those prayers lay mathematical concepts that wouldnt be discovered again for nearly 2000 years. Archimedes had worked out early versions of infinity and mathematical principles that foreshadowed c
